These morons never learn lessons. He is insulting him self by bitching about it....the Officers are just doing their job to verify their system... Can you imagine that a foreigner coming to India might have to go through ordeal if Indian Official suspects that he is a terrorist just because his records show....He should not forget that US has such system to verify and let him go.... where is SRK and others showing some passion when similar thing happen to President Abul Kalam? where is SRK and others showing some passion when bombings happened and innocent people get killed time and time again in India. Did he called for such system in India??? Where is SRK and others showing some passion that we need to improve Education System so that we can be proud of as Indians again? These guys thinks every thing for me nothing for others. They got all the money in the world they want.. now what?? how much is enough for these guys....People like him should learn life lessons like this and try to change Indian peoples life so that they get respect around the world. The counter argument to this statement is that when I was hired I was told that it would take 2-3 years to get the Green Card and then you can live in this country. I made certain investments, commitments in this country based on this fact. Now either I stay here as slave or loose on all those things that I did thinking that I will stay in this country forever or for next 10-15 yrs. Some of the problems that tied me to this country are :
1) Buying a house
2) Child education : Child cannot go back to home country and countinue education due to language of instruction.
3) Immovable Investments like 401K and not investing in my own country e.g. PF in India.
4) Making life insurances. I am too old to take a new life insurance as the premium will be too high and I cannot afford to pay my current life insurance as US as it would be difficult to them with my earnings in the home country.
And the list can go on and on. There are the things that habe tied me and I am no longer free to leave. If would have know earlier that the GC will take 10 years I would have not bought a house, left US before my kid started school, might have took a life insurance in home country etc. In fact same argument prevails that why were the dates made current last July. That send a wrong message and people made more investments.
Your above statement is true, but it doesn't apply to EB situation. A slave is not allowed to leave, you are allowed to leave time, at your free will. Its just that you chose not to leave. The correct description of the situation is - you are imposing slavery upon yourself and asking for remedy from the government. Isn't that correct? But the system is totally messed up and we cant have an overnight change .Even if they initiate something now by the time it gets actually implemented it shuld be more than 1 year.If nothing works out within atleast 1.5 years to 2 years this should be definitely considered.

This is racial profiling no doubt, but for good reason after what happened on 9/11. This is an unfortunate aftermath of 9/11 and IMHO a welcome one. If it wasnt for this kind of security we would have had many more 9/11ish incidents. I am glad this is a "part of life" now, otherwise I am not have a life. When you ask "When was the last time.. a US diplomat or US socialite was frisked and detained for 2 hrs in indian airports?", that is a big problem with the state of security in India. Not just US diplomat or US socialite even our own Indian ministers and celebrities dont get frisked or detained. You feel that is right when you hear about so many scandals of the underworld-bollywood nexus or politician-mafia nexus ? Forget about the nexus, its not right even if there was no connection with mafia. Rules should apply the same to everyone.
The balls you need to grow should be to ask politicians and celebrities to go through security like everyone else back home in India.

USCIS recently added one more constrains on 2 year EAD (i-140 should be approved in case of concurent filling).
My I-140 was approved more than a year ago. My I-485 was applied last July and hence was not concurrent filing.

Guys, I am sure everyone in this forum will get greencard, unless they don't want it. You just need to be patient and wait for your turn. My priority date is 06/03 and EB3. I am pretty sure, I should get my GC by EOY 2011. I am in this country since 1997. Just hang on to your jobs or find a job if you loose one. You will get your GC. GC shouldn't stop you from pursuing your interests buying house or starting a business, there are always ways to do it.

You have to look at the context in which my comments were made. Somebody said that H4 spouses go to college and pay instate fees but they have to pay international fees. I never said that ROW people do not have any of those problems but it just that we have to endure that for some more years. Having said that, I reiterate that I want my GC fast but not at the expense of ROW people. They do not have to endure a longer wait.
I thought this thread was given a decent burial, I could trust only you to bring this thread back to life with your hidden agenda of driving a wedge between Indians/Chinese and ROW.

Talking about diversity, those not familiar should take a look at an Indian currency note.
Maybe someone can scan and post one, I don't have any Indian note with me. You will see around 20+ languages on it. You can tell its different languages because they use different script unlike say German and French (except for the accents/umlaut). Actually the number of languages are much more than shown on the notes. For whatever reason AFAIK only languages with distinct script are classified as languages in India, others are called dialects. These dialects are actually languages because they are not dialects of anything (For example in this definition, lot of European languages will be classified as a single language because they use Latin script).
The point is unlike what outsider might think there is as much if not more cultural, ethnic, linguistic differences between a Gujarati and a Tamil Indian as between a German and a Portuguese European.
So how much favor I will carry with a Malayali (no disrespect to anyone from Kerala) is debatable.

I sent my application to Buffalo early Sep., however, have not received the receipt # yet. My friend told me it only took a couple of weeks for him to get his last year.

The point of the thread is that many people now think that cost of american dream is greater than the opportunity, and the balance is tilting in favor of other countries. Everyone makes their own assessment. No point in getting personal about it. Just a suggestion..using phrases like "suck blood out your body" will just reduce the effect of your argument.
And Do you (canadian wanna be) have any clue that to get respected salary and position you will be forced by illiterate Canadians to have "Professional Engineering Certificates"... It will suck blood out of your body for 5 years... So just do not read "Greener Side" of Canadian Immigration... I know it may not be applicable to all but more or less most of will have to face the same music in their careers. My all Canadian friends and relatives want to be Americans.. Only some of them practically could proceed for that.. After some stage of life it becomes hard to move families.. That is the reason they are facing now to take decision and simultaneously do not want to live in Canada anymore.. If you have 101 fever it will take 1 month to have Doctor's appointment... GST.. Higher taxes.. statistically there are chances "Most of members of this forum - Canadian Wanna Be" will have less promotions and/or increments in salary eventhough they will find themselves most skilled wherever they will work.
