Service industry is not always based on labor cost differentials. Many services are value added services. For example, stock brokers used to charge $200 and above for stock trades; however, electronic brokers came and made the industry efficient and hence can profit more by charging only $10 or even less. But this does not mean that the stock brokers are earning less. In fact they are earning more than before. However, their value additions come from faster settlement times and high volumes. This is easier to analyze. Now look at London or Hong Kong -- what services it provides and why is it booming?
High investments in R&D in general is good for economy but not necessarily true for a company. For example, German manufacturers are best R&D shops; however, their over investment in precision is precisely their problem. On the other hand Apple copied mp3 music players from Creative and made millions. One can find countless examples of skilled marketing (services) not innovative products making money. They will accept those cases, get fees from those lucky souls and make the dates unavailable after 1-2 months. Remember last year they were moving dates by 6 months till they made it UNAVILABLE for August and September.

This is crazy if this is how USCIS or DHS or whoever is going to interpret the law. We need some clarification from an experienced attorney. From the visa bulletin in Nov 2005, it does seem that USCIS is saying over subscribed countries will only get 7% in FY2006 and AC21 will not apply. If its only 2800 for EB2 and EB3 India then priority dates will never reach somewhere like 2005 or 06 for Indian nationals.
May be this explains why priority dates have got stuck at Jan 03 for EB2 India since october 2006.

I dont think DOS will do any spillover, if by a miracle they do a quarterly spillover it can happen only in december, The whole idea of spillover is if there are any leftover visas they have to use it by the end of the year (i.e spetember 30) or if they do quarterly spillover as the law says then they have to do it by the end of the quarter i.e Dec 31, march 31, June 30.
If the eb2 does not move to atleast march 2005 then it means DOS is not doing quarterly spillover.

Hi I just talked to customer service representative, she said that It is either due to a security check or Department of Homeland security trying out different exercises before approving the case. So Please wait for some more time and give a check. when the applications went to security check, the similar kind of response you will get. If your case falls under a specific section we will put the section in that.

....I am not sure why someone is portraying Infy or Wipro as companies that go for "Easy money..." that's completely ridiculous. Agreed they are not doing lots of so called high-end R & D projects and majority of thier revenue is still from service industry. But that does not make these companies any lesser.
I am not sure how much insight you guys got into these companies, but they are doing quite a lot of good assignments. Also, the processes they got in place & the maturity they show in execution of assignments is definitely on par with any other software services company in the world.
Probably a bunch of you folks are frustrated with these companies because the billing rates are driven down & opportunites in US (for consultants) are becoming less due to these companies' offshore model - but that does not make these companies shallow as you are trying to portray.
PS: I am not an employee with either of these companies. FOr that matter, none of these offshore-based companies. But the facts are to be accepted.

I meet many workers from these "great" companies at my workplace and see them being treated just as "low cost alternatives" and nothing else by this huge financial company in NY/NJ area. Because of their (INFY, TATA, Wipro, Satyam) "low billing rates" these guys cant afford good lifestyle. And back home in India INFY and TATA CEOs make billions and talk BIG. I've not met any TATA, Satyam guy here who is happy with their employer. They just hate their employers and always looking for a change. I wonder where they stand in terms of employee satisfaction? They treat their people like slave and send them as low cost labor. Not only that - they exploit US immigration rules and make use of L1 to keep their people long term at cliant place when they dont get enough H1.

Now, it is certainly ridiculous for you and your spouse to renew your drivers license's every 6 months...
That said, it is not a wild assumption that a decision on a I-485 application cannot be made in 6 months, all of those who are not retrogressed get it in that time frame...
Further, since the DMV actually checks the status with USCIS... (in most states) why would they care what the document says ?
I just got back from a lengthy fight with my local and state DMV offices to convince them I'm legal to continue having a drivers license. I'm EB, in the adjustment of status stage since July 2007. DMV asked me recently for proof for status check. I took the pending I-485 receipt and while they told me it is an acceptable proof, they said they have a rule that if the document has no expiration date, they can only give you a driver license with validity 6 months beyond the receipt date of your document (with the wild assumption that any I-485 application is approved or denied within 6 months)
I have nothing against local government and their agencies enforcing immigration, but if you won't give your staff the necessary training to comprehend what legal immigration status is then it will be a disaster

This means lesser demand for EB1 and EB-2 ROW numbers making the numbers available to EB-2 I & C. Again, it is very well possible that there are just enough number of people from both Eb1 & EB-2 ROW categories left & entering in the system to deny the numbers to EB-2 I & C. Unless the state of the economy continues like this, shedding 600K jobs in one month, equal to number jobs in the state of Maine, we can't say that EB-2 I & C can become close to current or leap into 2007 and beyond. Then we might be current and have a GC but the economic situation would be so worse that people don't care for GC. God Forbid we have to see that and lets hope and pray that the Stimulus will resuscitate the economy

go check the tri state poll, see if it's crossed 50 responses out of 3,500 + members. to have a poll and make it meaningful you need willing participants. that means many people need to spend a whole 30 secs not thinking about receipts. everyone worries about them- i'm talking here about the significant number that obsess about them. do note that the July 2 thread dies after work hours. so most people who refresh all day do it only at work.

They'll define normal processing times in some weaselly way of course -- like that random date they show in the processing time charts. It is not the normative 6 months timeframe, since the statement implies that an application that has a current PD and has been pending for 180 days (cos its name check is pending for 180 days presumably the application has been pending 180 days) can be "within normal processing times."
So current PD + 180 day pending namecheck = 47K.
And current PD + 180 pending namecheck + outside "normal processing times" = 10K.
The 10K is from the Ron Gotcher post on Imminfo (http://immigration-information.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14035&postcount=1).
Note that the TSC processing date for EB I-485 moved back to April from May 24, 2007. So the flood of applicants from June are certainly not "within normal processing times" even if they fell out of the BECs and have an early PD, and have a namecheck pending >180 days.

Well I guess one way to make a point is by having a fax, letter and email campaign to let Businessweek know that they will be boycotted.
The other thing to do is get Businessweek declared into a racist publication and every blog entry should mention it so that any google search should bring mention the same.
