Assuming @gc28262 doesnt know this because of his personal experiences and exposure, do you guys think *all* consulting companies charge their employees money for the Visas? I know personally only those who doesnt charge. One of the consultants I know strives to differentiate himself from these. He provides benefits like in a large company.
One thing guys, if you know abuse and are silent because of any reason (could be you want your spouses/brother's H1Bs to go through or any reason), you are all guilty. So, dont try to be naive..
I dont want to tell anything about L1B because I dont know if there is anything illegal in anything companies are doing. First this is no slave labor. It is a free will employment. Just because somebody is ready to do some work for less, legally, you should not be worried too much. Instead of worrying about billing, try to upgrade yourselves to become better in skills, capabilities etc...your market value will automatically be upheld if not become more. Being an L1B myself, I dont see any single day I felt like I was abused or I am cheated by my company.

With the May 09 Visa bulletin out, it should now be even more clearer to everyone that there will no progress without coordinated action. This poll shows there are at least 40 people who are interested in doing something to make a difference (thanks to those who have participated so far). Of course, I cannot believe there are not more people out there who want to step forward and make a commitment towards achieving their goal!
At the same time, I am really surprised by the lack of response by Core as well! Maybe there are not enough people in Core to be going around posting in these threads, but isn't that a problem?? I am even more convinced we need to meaningfully expand the Leadership organization and involve more people in order to move forward. It's not realistic to have the same people running around trying to do everything but it doesn't have to be that way.
Core team, would appreciate a response.

Some correction. 2 witness, one is a neighbour in another building. We live in 3rd floor, that woman live in 3rd floor on another building, there is one driveway between 2 building! Another witness is from leasing office staff, she claimed just near that area. That "help" is from that damn staff.
We only move to this apartment in 2 ~3 month, and both of us biz traveled lot, so don't think we bother neighbor much. And one of neighbor knew our miserable experience, he and his wife said would volunteer to support us in court if necessary.

I am not an economics geek, but plain simple facts tell me that India is nothing but back office of the world and no country can be on top of the world by just being the back office.

One more thing, only desi consulting companies are not the problem. Companies who figure out a way to take advantage of its employees, will do so. All companies are in the business of making bigger bucks for its shareholders. If they can figure out a way to make more, they will, even at the cost of taking advantage of immigrants. Desi companies figured out the loop holes first. Some of the other companies followed, others are still learning. It can be argued that % of such elements in desi consulting are more because they were the first to figure out the loopholes. But desi companies are not the only group taking advantage of immigrants. They are all the same. And folks like yourself feed into the problem. So please stop blaming just the desi consulting companies, because all companies are the same. Some companies have not yet figured out the ways to take advantage of immigrant employees. But these comapnies are learning fast, because they want to be competitive, right?

This is exactly what I thought when one of my son's friend was working very hard on spelling bee and needless to say he reached the topmost level in that event. As a parent I fail to understand why championing the spelling bee is of such a great importance for a child's all-round growth.
This whole spelling bee thing is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. By any standards, it is pure and simple torture to subject the kids to memorizing thousands of words and their stupid spellings. And what use is that? Have they never heard of something called SPELL-CHECK in Microsoft Word and other email services ?
Or are they afraid that their kid will go to a job interview and someone might ask them to spell the word that no one on the planet ever uses and is only present in the Oxford Dictionary.
Those who subject their kids to such a regimented, rigorous, scripted childhood are preparing a next generation of work-force that would only know how to follow the orders and accept directions.
85 % of the fortune 500 CEOs are not MBAs. And the other 15% that have an MBA, only 3 of the 15 have done MBA from an IVY LEAGUE school.
What that tells you is that too much education and scholarly childhood increases your job security, in that sense that you will never be unemployed, but it decreases the chances that you will be on the top or you will be a billionaire.
The biggest prize goes NOT TO people who can follow directions and know everything, but who can GIVE directions and get things done.

I own a house and haven't even applied for I-485. My PD is Sep 07. It's been almost 2 yrs since my purchase and I couldn't be happier.
I am thinking of buying a home without waiting for GC approval. I am EB3 I with PD 2006. No hopes of GC in near future. Just want to see the trend....

This EAD thing is really annoying, my wife got her AP and EAD last 11/21, with immediate update in USCIS.gov. I'm still waiting for mine, and I'm the principal. Anyway. I'll have an infopass appointment on 12/18. My H1-B permit expires on 02/07/08.

My last post in the matter. By our perspective, what I meant was, if you see an article talking about common topics such American Compititiveness or Illegal immigration you can always send an e-mail to the reporter and talk about plight legal immigrants. In most cases you will see a response from the reporter, whether they publish it or not is generally a matter of who you represent and audicences to the cause and other issues . That's why I said if IV as an organisation sends an e-mail (it could be me or you but representing IV itself) there is a possiblity that you will be taken seriously. But repeating the same issue to the same reporter 100 times will not make it any important it might even have a deleterious effect. I have seen this method working in the past. If you disagree with my approach, let's agree to dissagree on our approaches.

Undocumented Immigration can be solved within a week. But no politician or anti-immigrant wants to talk about it.
SIMPLY PUNISH THE EMPLOYERS EMPLOYING UNDOCUMENTED.
Just put some US citizens who hire undocumented in Jail and then nobody will hire undocumented. All undocumented problem will be solved. But nobody wants to enforce laws on US Citizens. But everyone wants to enforce laws on undocumented because they do not see these undocumented as human beings.
Instead of deporting 14 million undocumented, and wasting money on this. Just punish 1 thousand US citizens for employing undocumented. I am sure you will see some hidden anti-immigrants being jailed too. The greedy employers promote undocumented immigration by employing them, exploiting them and paying less salary. Why not punish the employers.
No anti immigration site wants to actively work on this action item. WHY?
