My Dear IV Members,
I would like to open up my house for IV members during the advocacy days. I live in Herndon, VA about 25 miles from DC. I can accommodate up to 3 or 4 members if they can manage. DC is pretty much commutable from my house using the public transport.
Due to my work situation at present I am not sure if I will be able to participate actively. But I will be trying my best to at least make it for a day.

If one gets an H-1B approval now (Jan/Feb), can he start working right away? Or does he have to wait till the start of fiscal year, October?

That is true any bodys priority date before that date and cleared FBI name check, finger printing they will be given GC
What do these dates mean? If they are dates for who can apply in Sept, then all (those who could) have filed their AOS in July/August. Do they mean that in Sept 07 USCIS will be approving GC for those within these dates?

I replied to my RFE last Friday and the status changed to Reponse Review. I got a soft LUD yesterday. Nothing after that!

Hi all,
I reached US on H4 visa with my husband 6 months ago. I have been working in an IT firm back in India. Now my husband's contract got extended and it seems like we will be here for some years. I don't want to waste my career by simply sitting at home. I have searched through many job sites and I got many calls from desi consultants. Many of them are asking me to change the resume as I have only 2 yrs of experience. By reading thorugh all the forums and articles I am aware of the traps of desi consultants.
I do not want to show any fake experience. All these consulting firms are saying that I won't get any job here without changing my resume.. :(
I just want to know your humble opinion about the options I can try. Is it impossible to get through with 2 yrs of experience? Please share your thoughts on it. I feel very sad thinking about my career. :(

I personally think that if this proposal goes through - EU will be the next melting pot.
Racism is there everywhere, we find it in US also, even in India, you find caste system and inter state racism. With rising opportunities, such things may not really be visible especially in places where there are free zones.

Even poor people have prejudices against rich people. And people tend to group with people who share their prejudice to fight against those who they are prejudiced against. But at least when the two groups who are against each other are about the same in size, you will feel less pressure. If you are among few foreign professionals working among a largely native population, you will feel a lot of pressure.

Most of the cases, USCIS approves the petition with I-94. Sometimes it approves without I-94 therby forcing you to travel out of country and come back.
So the unpaid bench is a really issue if you have to change your employer at the end of the bench time. If you continue with the same employer after your unpaid bench, then yes, you are out of status but it doesnt create problems.

My friend's friend was visiting my friend and was traveling with his dog. The vo asked my friend's friend what his plan was with the dog. My friend's friend said he was just planning to stay with my friend and take the dog to walk in nearby park where he can poop in the grass and pee on a tire. The vo immediately called my friend and asked if he can take a us dog and have it poop in the park and pee on tire. My friend said yes!
