I have seen lots of people posting more than 300+ in this forum and never contributed a dime. If you ask they shamelessly say it is not mandatory to contribute. Everyone knows it is not mandatory, but if you are not self centred and stingy, you will feel to contribute at least once if not recurring after spending months on IV forum.

i just read on another forum, that about 70,000 visa's come up for the new fiscal year which starts 1st october, so it might take a couple of months to see any movement, but it will happen, as they have got to wait and see and get a better feel for how many filers there were for july/augest, as they havent processed them all yet, then we will see something happen. so lets wait and see what the Nov bullitin says, and if the rally had any kind of effect.

Ladies & Gentlemen
I can understand the emotion and commotion among my fellow beings who are stuck with BECs. I waited agonizing 5 years to get my labor cleared. We all clearly understand what are you guys going through.
But the thing is that Labor Certification issues are taken care with PERM implementation. Also the administration set up 2 BECs to take care of them back logs. Now the issue is purely administrative and not law making. Also BECs made it clear that by Oct 2007 all the back logs will be cleared.
Right now big things are happening in the immigration law making. So I think we should concentrate to get the best out of it and achieve our goals on the Green Card Visa issues. As Tom Tancredo is going to fight with teeth and nail against Immi Bills, we have to do the same.
There are many others issues we can lobby for such as
1) Starting H1B stamping inside the US again( Which was stopped in 2005)
2) Allow H1B spouses to work. etc etc
But I believe our priority for the time being should be Retrogression. I request all of you to use this thread for finding a person to testify.

Obviously i was wanting to know what the law states...and not a democratic answer. I dont always expect forums to quote the law correctly - use your judgement!
Thanks anyway for that answer. My situation is different beacuse with the I-140 PP going away for now...and my H1B expiring Feb 2008...I am left with approved I-140,Labor and retrogressed dates to be eligible for 3yr extension.
Now that if 140 is pending ...then I am left with EAD as the only option to continue manitaing my status.
Correct my intrepretation of law if wrong..

You can't generalize. If your kids are smart they can get into better colleges like IITs etc. I think you are confusing the issue about adaptability with good future prospects.
Wait a second. If you are not adaptable to the new environment, it becomes a rat race.If the situation is not conducive, your smartness aint gonna help. I think thats what the OP clearly meant. Its not easy for a kid who is in 8th grade in US to snugly fit into Indian System. Coming to the IIT's, Have you ever compared the total number of seats available in IIT's to the accepted numbers from IVY leagues and other big schools. In India, you have to be the best among the best to get into IIT's. You have to be best here and oh yeah.. You dont have to lose some of the smartness to reservations. But I agree with you that parents should let children pursue their own interests rather than thinking about him/her being a doc/eng.

Having studied in every single indian board system, state, cbse and icse along with primary education the london board (o/a level), I have some experience with regards to adaptability-> It sucks. I have a abcd friend who moved from US to india while in the 6th grade and she regrets those two years of her life. If you have kids in school over here please think 3 times before u shuttle them back and forth.

Can the wire transfer be requested online using ICICI's(or HDFC's) website ? Or do you need personnally do it from India ?
In my case, the request was processed at the local branch. I don't recall seeing an option on ICICI to do the wire transfer. But assuming there is, you should give that a shot. You might have better luck at the branch though .... RBI has the so called KYC - Know Your Customer rules for all banks and that may give you some leeway.

You can not ignore some one just because they have a different opinion, and YES I do have the exact same interest as all of you on the forum. There are many ways to slide and dice an issue and this is just my take on it. I am not trying to turn this into a ugly thread but just voicing my concerns, so no offense to any one.

Yes that is assuming they have not lived in this country for the past 10 years. My husband's employer has filed his GC the last day before the 5 year and every year his job changes to restrcture they keep filing his labor again and again and it is such a mess.
It won't be so terrible for those who filed in 2006/07 to wait another 2-3 years. Plus poeple like me (PD sep 2004) will file in the new Point system reducing backlog for others.
