It seems that a solution to a case like that would be the SKIL bill or an amendment to this existing H law, not Dream Act. I understand a person in that situation that would be desesperate for a solution and it would embrace whatever it comes on your way, but we have to admit that there are implications behind the scenes if such Dream Act is ever granted. We shall resist that temptation to join that crowd, especially because in my view that just irates immigration reduction groups even further. For that reason, why don't we focus and continue to fight hard for bills which address specifically our problems.
At minimum the legal H folks pushing for the "Dream Act" due to their children status, should realize that there are negative implications and acknowledge that.

One possible reason is that Americans just don't want people smarter than them to come here and have the high paying jobs, create companies and have success on their own country.
It's OK to have a bunch of illegal immigrants to do the dirty work.
Let's think as a modern slavery. They want to be in command, to be the boss. It's their nature. And they just don't accept skilled immigrants coming here and taking the top positions from them. They want people who just take orders - from Americans.

A major IT company making just 3% profit margin for last 8 years??? Howmany think its true? To me it just can't be. The original 40%(not sure of exact %) is more realistic and along lines with other major IT operating from India base.
He(they) planned it all along I guess. Meticulously diverting(swindling) cash to their hands. Once market gone worse and knowing it remains so for sometime to come, they can no more see such money flow into their hands. So wanted to make a safe exit by selling their own company ( which interestingly named reverse of 'MAYTAS'-'SATYAM' - they probably know this will happen and its going to reverse the future of SATYAM ) and recording those swindled money under this asset in the name of 'bookvalue'.
I hope whatever body goes into investigating this fraud, goes deep in and traces every(atleast some) 'real' penny that might have made its way out to classify this a 'fake' profit is found and returned back to the true 'stake' owners. More importantly, whoever deliberately crafted this, should be penalized such that it remains a deterent to others stealing publics money and their future. This is a testing time for India to prove they are relaible investment nation with a sound law to enforce better business environment.

Does this forum software have a buddy list / block list feature?

Thanks for all the responses. My question is: Can one legally be on payroll of two companies and draw salary from them, both on H1? How about both on EAD? And, one on H1, the other on EAD?

I also met several American citizens who were passing by and were curious about the rally. Me and JazzbytheBay explained and they listened patiently. One hour later I saw them marching with us holding flowers that some of our volunteers were distributing to passer bys. One gentleman was a school teacher.
IV needs grassroot support from half a million people stuck in various stages of green card process. You can be from any country. We welcome and invite members from all countries and communities to join our efforts.
Additionally, one of our best friends can be American citizen who understand the issue from economic, personal and other perspectives. If they become part of our voice we will become more effective.
Each one of us has to become "IV brand ambassador" and present our issue in right perspective to counter so much misinformation floated by some vested interests. Yes, you can do it. We can facilitate.

I do not think this is standard. I worked for a consultant company for 7 years and never saw an agreement like that!!
The only major issue I see here is "Reasonable notice period"? what is considered to be sufficient notice period? If they say it is 2 weeks, then I dont see a problem in that. Most companies would expect that you provide them with atleast 2 weeks notice before leaving employment. This is normal. But without specifying anything of that sort, it is scary. After you sign the agreement, the company might come back and say, the sufficient notice period is 3 months, Then you are screwed. So, clear those things up.
As far as the accuracy is timesheets are concerned, those are pretty much standard language. Since you will get your timesheet signed by your client manager and always have a copy of this timesheet, you will be safe. Also, tranfering your billing is always part of any non-compete agreement. Not just with Desi consultants.

Some Bank Notary's tell that way.. Once I had the same answer. Went to another branch and got the notarization.. You can try different branches in your area.
For Photo - any light background is ok. Infact I did it myself thru online website and printed in walmart.. got the renewal in less than 10 days.

Are we so idle that we are thinking about changing the name of IV? Don't we have something better to do like taking part in IV activities?
Well how about chaging our own names too so that americans can easily remember our names? I think that its a good idea too.
The suggestion for the name change was to identify us as "legal" tax paying individuals, and not for the ease of remembering the name.
However, I do agree that it may be too much of an effort, and would recomend that when communicating with lawmakes and other inviduals, we introduce ourselves as legal tax paying individuals that are trying to reunite families and children, and provide ourselves the freedom and the ability to further our careers by attempting to streamline the immigration process.

I got my FP apt on 12/14. There was no lud on my 485. I had opened SR for fp in october, but didnt help. Then I used the POJ method to get hold of IO at TSC on 12/7 and she created one for me, the notice date on FP says 12/7. Hope this helps.

I made a one time contribution myself but I have a feeling that IV is going away from the goal of increasing EB visas and just focusing on the 485 filing.Many people that have contributed earlier feel that by prioritizing the 485 filing over increase of EB visas, IV has gone away from atleast some of stakeholders .The stakeholders were promised initially that increase of EB visas would be a top priority or atleast on a even keel with any other objectives, but now we are in phased approach.I have talked to lot of people and the feeling is same.

There would be many of us who would be able to relate to this article . I don't feel it is totally false, I guess this is the author's Memoir (partly true & partly made up ) & not his autobiography.
(made up part is what the author foresees in the future - reason given below )
- If not parents then it might be grandparents who kept waiting/hoping to see their grandson/granddaughter's children but passed away without seeing them.
- Latter part (what sounds like made up part ) is what the author saw in working/service class families in the US who came here 20 - 30 years ago (i hv myself come across such families) & believes his future would be the same - who knows it can be true for anyone ???
During youth a guy is busy in his job, is able to pay all his bills as well as save some money for vacation, which happens during long weekends or once a year , life goes by like this but when he grows older/retires & wishes to go back & settle down he finds things are not what he wants or wanted - children dislike staying/going to india , they study in a college in a different city , visit them once in a while , he & his wife r left alone & find it very lonely here. He knows he has not become a multi-millionaire & looks back & realizes he has always lived a hand-to-mouth life - BUT Is this what he wanted ? was all this worth it ?
He could never reach a conclusion & one day he passes away. Now his wife is left alone even lonelier & she has the same questions.
She visits india every year for 1 or 2 months - she likes it there. But
She cannot settle there - it will make her far from her children , She cannot settle here - because her roots are there.

It is only one week that the immigrant community was elated by the introduction of a fantastic immigration reform bill (STRIVE) by Congressman Gutierrez in the House, but on the Senate side, there is a mess that is continously developing. We reported earlier that the two bipartisan leaders of Senator McCain and Senator Kennedy reportedly rifted their partnership. Now, another Senator is about to add confusion to this mess. News report indicates that Senator Durbin of Illinois may introduce within this week a legislation to put a block on the H-1B abuse and restrict the H-1B worker petitions. This move is totally shocking considering the fact that a rosy H-1B reform was just introduced as part of the STRIVE Act of 2007.
Reportedly, Senator Durbin will propose to make it mandatory that the employers engage in the recruitment of U.S. workers prior to filing a H-1B petition and file sworn statement in the form of attestation that they failed to locate a qualified U.S. worker as part of the H-1B petition. Currently, such attestation is mandated for the so-called H-1B dependent employers only. Additionally, the proposal reportedly would mandate the DOL's annual audit of the employers hiring 100 or more employees out of which 15% constitutes H-1B employees. Once such proposal is enacted, there will be substantial changes in the flow of foreign professional workers. At this time, H-1B visas lay a stepping stone for foreign professional workers to land in this country and to apply for permanent residence.
The late news that the FY 2008 H-1B cap may reach in one day on April 2, 2008 indeed raised a concern in the country as it can be taken as a pervasive abuse of this visa petitions by some employers. Part of the current clog in the employment-based immigrant visas for professional workers is arguably associated with the abuse of these visa petitions. EB1-B or EB-2 is more suitable for me?
what bothers me is that I am not cited in the literature yet and I do not have awards.

You won't get a definite answer because its not a point based system. I think EB2 NIW is easier and current for Egypt so go for that. USCIS lists the criteria (at least 3 I think) that you must satisfy. If not then not much you can do.
