Opened my email this morning to see the card production ordered email (time stamp in my inbox reads 2:15 am PST 4/23/08); the approval date was 4/23/08.
Been in meetings all day so not even a chance to call anyone about it.

I got little demoralized last evening but then worked from 11 thru 3 AM to double check everything and i mailed today by USPS Express Mail ( it should reach July 2nd )

Take the body shoppers and glorified body shoppers like TCS, wipro, infy etc out of the equation and you would have sheer wastage of H1B numbers since the American companies will not go abroad to recruit someone who is unfamiliar with US work culture.
That is why congress came up with 20K quota for master degree holders who can be recruited directly by US corporations. In my opinion, US corporations should not complain at all since they were never interested in upholding the true spirit of H1B by recruiting people from abroad directly.

We programmers need to come to grip with the fact that today unless you have a rare skill and exceptional ability America will not roll the red carpet on your GC path.

Although our endeavor should be to make USCIS accept applications through out July , In my opinion We should be willing to accept any compromise cut off date for accepting applications. Say for example two weeks from Jul1 or 1 week from Jul 1st etc. (Worst case being cases received until revised dates are published). I know some of them might not get their applications through in first two weeks , but I think it is better than alternative (Which is no one gets through)
The current events starting from a rumor has caused frustration in our members. The news coming out of AILA got us into action and we are working on trying to prevent this visa bulletin disaster to happen for our members. Due to weekend, There are less opportunities to pursue but we are not taking this as an excuse and please know that IV is working this weekend and have been working ever since we heard about this news and are using all measures and contacts at the appropriate levels of government to help our members. At this time we do not have a conclusive outcome for our members as the efforts are continuing. The efforts are in full swing and will continue until the bulletin comes out. We are prepared to make efforts on Monday when the offices open.
Be assured we are considering all options. We are also working with like minded organizations and on
our own to prevent this disaster to happen for our members. IV is committed to pursue measures in case of any
visa bulletin that will change the current dates.
Please be patient and continue to support us. We will continue to update on the website as we have any more
update to share. The DOS's actions, USCIS actions and the resulting litigation from USCIS or other plaintiffs will take time to materialize and core group will post updates and action items as soon as there is something actionable that we wish for all our members to participate.
Please continue with your 485 filing process and file your 485 as soon as possible. Do not be late and do not postpone or slow down your 485 filing work due to rumors or other fears. Keep doing what you are doing.

Well Bridgewater temple did not allow us to distribute flyers. Its against their policy. All we could do is stick the flyer on the community bulletin board and give it to the manager and the Vice Chariman of the temple. I got the telephone numbers of the Chairman of PR of the temple. I am going to call her tomorrow. Sanjay and Ajay are going to distribute the flyers at Metropark sometime this week. Sanjay is going to follow up futher with EBC. Ajay is going to follow up with the newspapers. Rajeev, did you try to get in touch with your local congressman? If not, please do so asap and keep pursuing until you get a decision from them. This actually goes for everyone of us. Please follow up with the congressmen until you get a decision from them.

It will be good if we book as a group in single location so that easy for everyone to share the expenses (rent, hotel stay, car pool).
I have Hilton points (could offer @25000 points ) which is good for 1 night/2days stay.
We need to book early to get better price so hurry up guys.
I am close to Dulles Airport and if anyone needs pickup and drop-off I can provide some help (if you stay late night as I plan to participate each day till it ends).

Your statement about 27% limit holding does not make sense ! As per the visa bulletin if numbers are not filled up in a particular category they will go to unsubscribed countries. Here is the excerpt from the April Visa bulletin:
D. INDIA EMPLOYMENT SECOND PREFERENCE VISA AVAILABILITY
Section 202(a)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides that if total demand will be insufficient to use all available numbers in a particular Employment preference category in a calendar quarter, then the unused numbers may be made available without regard to the annual �per-country� limit. It has been determined that based on the current level of demand being received, primarily by Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices, there would be otherwise unused numbers in the Employment Second preference category. I had a situation last year when I was flying Thai airlines to Bangkok from Phoenix. Thai airlines allows 70 LB per luggage and 2 luggage per person. However, since there is no Thai flight from Phoenix to Bangkok, I had to fly United from Phoenix to Los Angeles. Here is the problem. Since I was flying international, I thought United would allow me to take 70 LB because that's what is allowed on Thai but they didn't let me do that. They said that it was a domestic flight from Phoenix to LA and would only allow 50 LB. They asked for another 1000 dollars to check in my luggage to my final destination, Bangkok. I, of course, didn't want to pay that kind of money so they checked my bag only up to LA and I had to pay about 150 bucks for the extra 20 LB weight. I then had to claim my luggage in LA and then re-check in with Thai and I didn't have to pay any extra money aside from all the hassle of check-out and check-in again.
Is this normal procedure when you are flying international? What's the use of Thai allowing 70 LB when you can't do that with your connecting flight or is it just United trying to squeeze some of my hard earned money? What's the best way to avoid this kind of situation again aside from only taking 50 LB? Is there any clear guideline on connecting flights?

After long haul of almost 5 years , today I got the approval email for my 485 filed in June - 2007.I guess my wife's case should be approved soon.Last when spoke to TCS IO , I was told that biometrics is needed in my case but still they can approve & later send me the notice. I guess only after that I might get the physical card.
Had anyone experienced this scenario ?
Anyways I want to thank everyone on this forum,immigration portals, folks & every other support that I have got in this long process.
I will always be there for everyone on this forum or in any other way I can help to every legal immigrant who is waiting for the Green Card.
