No I did not. Because my attorney did not ask me to do so. But, after I got my GC, they emailed me some instructions on what to do and what not to do. In that list they had this instruction to carry my GC with me all the time in BOLD.
So I got concerned and posted this which has resulted in a lot of hating and loathing. I am not understanding why is this my fault.

Reason for asking is I live in NJ. And i got an appointemt with DR. Kim in NY as i know him through somebody else.
He is also more reasonable asking around 190/-

nmdial I dont think the registrar will issue a birth certificate based on affidavit from the parents.
Usually for people who dont have birth registered at birth or hospital records we have to obtain a non-availibility certificate from the local authority. Along with this certificate we submit a notarized affidavit signed by one/both the parents. Now we have learnt that this affidavit has to be signed in the presence of the registrar. Hopefully that should be ok then.
My parents had submitted a notarized affidavit to the registrar (death and birth) of the local municipality and obtained my birth certificate. That was in 2006, the rules may have changed by now.

As per the current guidelines adjudicating officer makes the determination based on Department of Labor SOC/O*net code in the Labror Certification Application (ETA 9098) form. ( It's very critical to have a copy of LC application, before considering AC21. If you don't have it through employer, you can get a copy from DOL through FOIA request )
DOLs SOC/O*Net gives the job description for the Job code as well as "same or similar" jobs (if you search on your SOC/O*net code)

In such cases it may be possible to prove the jobs are similar by obtaining an 'Expert Opinion Letter' from an expert in the field ( such as a Professor of Computer Science from a University).
How do Promotions impact one's existing GC application?
for example: one filed for the GC as a Software Engineer, 5 years down the road one switches to a different company in the same area/location using EAD (avoiding AC21 for now) and the salary is 30 % higher than that was mentioned on one's LC filing and the job title is sr software engineer (same or similar responsibilities, senior title). How would something like this impact one's GC application?
I also wonder what would happen to the GC application if one was to get another promotion and become a manager with even a higher salary (some job responsibilities stay the same and some new managerial responsibilites get added).
I am sure many of us would have faced this since clearly many of us have been waiting for many many years - I would really appreciate your input on this. Thanks!

I'm on H1, I decided recently to buy a house after I stayed more than 5 years in this country and gave an offer to purchase it . I will drop now as I'm feeling unsecured in this country of immigrants and with it's protectionist policy against Indian Talents in this 21st century. It will also influence all of my friends who are also potentially looking to buy houses . First of all let me congratulate and thank IV for working tirelessly to bring about this huge benefit for most folks stuck in the green card mess. I have always believed in IV and its power to move mountains. However, in the midst of all this rejoicing, let's not forget a certain class of IV members who will not be able to take advantage of this recent benefit for all practical purposes. I am talking about the folks who are currently single and will not be able to file for their (future) spouse before Aug 17. It seems to me that the best thing that IV can do to bring relief to these folks is to lobby for and effect legislation to exclude dependents from the visa cap, i.e let dependents (or at least spouse) to file for I-485 even when priority dates are not current. I believe this single piece of legislation (if we can make that happen) will have a big effect on the entire community, because that will free up that many visa numbers that would otherwise have been used up, and let folks get their GCs faster (even if they are happy with their EADs and APs). Can IV focus on this front please ?
Congratulations btw to everyone who will be taking advantage of this window of opportunity.
Alternatively, IV can find you a spouse to get married ASAP. Just kidding.

We all know this EB3-EB2 game is total non-sense and unjust.
So many extra-ordinary people who could/should have been in EB2 are in EB3 simply because : corporate lawyer filed in wrong category, they did not want to work for a desi employer who would file in EB2 in exchange for a lot of things, they did not want to buy an approved labor and create fake experience certs/affidavits, or for various other family/job realated reasons which have nothing to do with his/her education/skills/experience.
At the same time, a lot of street smart people got their EB2 labor/I140 approved while they worked at gas stations.
In my opinion all IT professionals, MBA's, Lawyers, Doctors and all other BE/Btech/ME/MTech engg. should be in SAME category (EB2 or EB3). The only people who should be in a preferred category are the scientists who are actually working as research scientists for a govt or non-profit organization (not just anyone who bought a PhD from Dhanabad University for Rs 15000).
If there must be EB2 vs. EB3 then it should be based on a well-defined, measurable and well followed criteria, for example a aptitude/IQ test, interview/GD, there are many other ways to cover all types of talents.

Hi All,
Its seems that my approved EAD card lost from mailbox (seems like post man delivered it in diff mail box instead of mine).. It�s been more than 15 days of approval but no card in the mail.
I contact customer service and they said wait for 30 days otherwise file new one. I am not sure what are the option I have if I won�t receive my card on time? My existing EAD is expiring within next 25 days. Is there any way that I can get my card back or USCIS issue new card without filling new one?
